Eastern Cape Premier, Phumulo Masualle has commenced with his Pre-State of the Province Address (SOPA) Engagements earlier this year, kicking it off in Nyandeni local municipality, where he met with communities in and around Ngqeleni area. The engagement session is aimed at giving feedback on progress made on the issues which were raised during similar sessions held provincially, in January 2017. Communities raised priority matters in their various areas, including roads, health services and electricity. Beneficiaries from the Green Project - an agriculture programme aimed at empowering communities, mainly the youth, through crop farming.
The Premier is also addressed the business sector on the day, at the Nelson Mandela Health Resource centre in Mthatha, where he met with the business fraternity of O.R. Tambo, Alfred Nzo and Joe Gqabi District Municipalities. Some of the sectors attended the session include textile and clothing, farming, agriculture and agro-processing, catering, cleaning and security companies. The sessions also solicit inputs from the business sector as part of the build-up programme towards the SOPA and is part of Premier’s commitment to engage business in order to sustain the momentum created during the January 2017 Business Sector Engagement.
