Premier Phumulo Masualle on the plight of the Geqeza family

Bhisho: Premier Phumulo Masualle has learnt with distress of the plight of the Geqeza family featured in page 6 of today’s Daily Dispatch. The Premier has undertaken to call upon his office to reach out to the family who indicated to Loyiso Mpalantshane, a Daily Dispatch journalist that they “live in an isolated area in the mountains and have no access to basic services such as running water, electricity and sanitation”.
“As government, we cannot remain unmoved by the plight of the most vulnerable of our people”. As Premier I cannot promise that their situation will be resolved tomorrow; but will dispatch my officials with the relevant provincial government partners to establish what can be done to assist the Geqeza family as well as find out if there are no other families in such distress”.
“In line with our commitment to building cohesive, caring and sustainable communities as well as addressing the urgent and pressing needs of the poorest of the poor, as the Eastern Cape Government we dare not fail the Geqeza family and many more who share similar challenges “said Premier Masualle.
