Eastern Cape Premier Phumulo Masualle has today, Monday, 26 May 2014 welcomed the announcement by President Jacob Zuma yesterday on the appointment of the newly formed Cabinet to serve the Fifth Democratic Administration.
“In our view, the Cabinet when viewed in its totality, reflects the commitment of the ANC – led government to deploy a national political leadership that is inclusive and representative of all South Africa’s people. Our commitment to non – racism, non- sexism; coupled with balancing continuity and change as well as inclusive geographic spread reflective of our country’s human resource capabilities further demonstrates the commitment of the ruling party to the values it embodies.”
Premier Masualle believes that the “ competences possessed by the national leadership in critical service delivery areas as well as their intellect, energy, vigour and zeal will indeed contribute in moving South Africa forward as we deal with the triple challenges of poverty; underdevelopment and joblessness; especially in the Eastern Cape.
As the Eastern Cape government; we further welcome the re- organization of Government departments and commit ourselves to work with National government in a co-operative manner that will ensure that we strengthen all tiers of government to ensure synergy and convergence”
“We further applaud the appointment of many competent Ministers who hail from the province such as the Land and Agrarian Reform, Minister Gugile Nkwinti serving his second tenure as Minister as well as Deputy Ministers Pam Tshwete, Thoko Xasa and Stella Ndabeni – Abrahams.
“We also congratulate the incoming Deputy Ministers,Mcebisi Jonas at Finance as well as Inkosi Phathekile Holomisa at Labour and are pleased that their expertise in governance and their track – record will strengthen government in the areas of their deployment.”
The Eastern Government pledges its full support to work with the new Cabinet and calls upon all the people of the Eastern Cape to stand ready to work in a spirit of unity and co-operation that will move South Africa forward.
