The Business Relationship between Zhejiang and Eastern Cape Province Expands

​Premier Masualle recently led the Zhejiang delegation who visited the three ports (Port of Port Elizabeth, Ngqurha and Coega), as well as toured the Nelson Mandela Metro City. The top level delegation from Zhejiang province in June embarked on a two day visit on negotiations with the Eastern Cape Government to concretise proposals for bilateral cooperation on tourism, special economic zones, automotive sector, port management, skills development and exchange programmes between institutions of higher learning and collaboration between municipalities in the Eastern Cape and Zhejiang Province.
During the Zhejiang Province visit led by Secretary of the Communist Party of China in Zhejiang Province who is also the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Zhejiang Provincial People’s Congress, Honourable Che Jun, the updated Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed at a Business to Business matchmaking session held at the Boardwalk conference Centre in Port Elizabeth.
The MOU signed provide for cooperation between the two provinces and further enhance existing relations between Buffalo city Municipality and its partner the City of Jinhua as well as the Nelson Mandela Municipality and the City of Ningbo. MOUs will see further relations being strengthened and partnerships between businesses in the fields of agriculture, aquamarine and motor industry deepened.
The delegation also had an opportunity to engage with the Nelson Mandela University to forge cooperative between this institution of higher learning and the Ningbo Polytechnic College to undertake exchange programs on skills developed for local government, aquaculture and industry.
This is pursuant to Eastern Cape Provincial Government’s delegation led by Premier Phumulo Masualle on a visit to China for bilateral engagements to renew the existing partnership with Zhejiang Province. The twinning agreement which was signed by the two Provinces in year 2000 provides for cooperation in the following areas: Trade & Economic Relations, Exchange in the field of Science & Technology, Cooperation on Sport & Culture, Health and Education. 
In terms of the twinning agreement, the Eastern Cape Province promotes its products in the strategic Chinese market and among others, also made gains in long term partnership with SEEA Restaurant Co Ltd, in China to promote and sell EC cherry peppers and honey mead products.
